Life with four children six and under definitely has been interesting. We have seven weeks under our belts now and I have to say, while it gets pretty crazy around our house at times, it hasn't been as crazy as I envisioned it would be. We rarely have a moment to spare but what extra time we need seems to be borrowed from sleeping time. We've been sleep deprived for so long now I don't know that we've even noticed a difference over the past seven weeks.

Just Like That! Our Baby Story

It's hard to believe that a week ago at this time we were just getting ready to meet our little A. The baby and I had spent some 39 weeks together and now we were finally going to be able to see each other. I was hoping that we would have met sooner but that just wasn't meant to be, as it was it couldn't have worked out more perfectly.

I was scheduled for a dr. appointment at 9:30 that morning, June 18th. The dr. planned on administering a treatment that may or may not start my labor. I had the same treatment the week before and although it made me feel miserable for a while it didn't send me into labor. I wasn't going to get my hopes up this time, but I did have my mother and hospital bag with me just in case! After giving me the treatment and checking everything over the dr. said, "If you feel like anything has changed, come back in and if it has, we'll send you over to labor & delivery and get things going." Upon hearing that I was determined that I would feel something change!

The Difference of Seven Years

Seven years ago just about to the date I was cleaning out my classroom for the last time after seven years of teaching.  For the first time since I was five I wasn't sure what the fall had in store for me.  I loved teaching but was desperately hoping and praying to have a child of my own.  I had a quiet fear that that hope would not be seen and was coming to grips with that very real possibility.  Today, seven years later, I watched that answer to my prayers enjoy the simple summer pleasure of playing in the sprinkler with her two younger sisters. As I watched my girls and felt the little life inside of me I couldn't help but wonder why I, of all people, have been blessed more than I could have ever hoped.

Not Big Enough

This baby is big.  No one knows that better than me, its mother, but apparently it is not big enough to warrant a forced early entrance into the world.  We are just going to have to wait to meet this little/big person until it is ready to come or until its due date.  The dr. said he knows that I can handle a big baby but won't let me go past my due date.  Thanks doc!

Four More Weeks???

Much to everyone's dismay my actual due date is June 23rd.  After hearing that most people respond with "Are you having twins?" or "Could they have gotten the date wrong?", "Wow, that's a big baby" or my personal favorite, "You look so miserable."  The truth is life isn't that easy right now but it could be a lot worse.  I think I may even be feeling a little better than I was.  Having said that, I'm still really hoping I don't have to wait until June 23rd!  We have a big ultrasound on Monday, June 2nd to check the size of the baby.  I then meet with my dr. Wednesday to discuss the results and see if he plans to induce me.  He doesn't want to let this baby get as big as M.  I couldn't agree more!  I'm hoping perhaps two weeks from now to be in labor or holding my new baby!
