Just before the new year I commented to someone "We have been pretty healthy for a while."  As the words were coming out of my mouth I knew I would regret saying them.  We have been swapping a nasty cold/cough thing on and off for what seems like months.  The smallest among us have been hit the hardest.  M has been to the dr. every week for the past three weeks.

My Day 3-11-09

My day started sometime after 2 am with the sound of little feet making their way to my side of the bed.  I know by the pitter whose they are.  M has a little routine of making her way quietly to our room, closing the door behind her, carefully folding down the corner of the blanket, and then climbing in.  Too tired to take her back, I drifted off for a while, being sandwiched between my husband and a two-year-old.  I did take her back only for her to return an hour or so later.  I had no resistance left and let her snuggle in for what could never be described as good sleep.

I love to do many activities with my girls.  One of my favorites, although at times a little hairy, is cooking.  C loves to cook the most at this time and is always wanting to try out new recipes, recipes that she creates.

Life with four children six and under definitely has been interesting. We have seven weeks under our belts now and I have to say, while it gets pretty crazy around our house at times, it hasn't been as crazy as I envisioned it would be. We rarely have a moment to spare but what extra time we need seems to be borrowed from sleeping time. We've been sleep deprived for so long now I don't know that we've even noticed a difference over the past seven weeks.

It's hard to believe that a week ago at this time we were just getting ready to meet our little A. The baby and I had spent some 39 weeks together and now we were finally going to be able to see each other. I was hoping that we would have met sooner but that just wasn't meant to be, as it was it couldn't have worked out more perfectly.

I was scheduled for a dr. appointment at 9:30 that morning, June 18th. The dr. planned on administering a treatment that may or may not start my labor. I had the same treatment the week before and although it made me feel miserable for a while it didn't send me into labor. I wasn't going to get my hopes up this time, but I did have my mother and hospital bag with me just in case! After giving me the treatment and checking everything over the dr. said, "If you feel like anything has changed, come back in and if it has, we'll send you over to labor & delivery and get things going." Upon hearing that I was determined that I would feel something change!

The Difference of Seven Years

Seven years ago just about to the date I was cleaning out my classroom for the last time after seven years of teaching.  For the first time since I was five I wasn't sure what the fall had in store for me.  I loved teaching but was desperately hoping and praying to have a child of my own.  I had a quiet fear that that hope would not be seen and was coming to grips with that very real possibility.  Today, seven years later, I watched that answer to my prayers enjoy the simple summer pleasure of playing in the sprinkler with her two younger sisters. As I watched my girls and felt the little life inside of me I couldn't help but wonder why I, of all people, have been blessed more than I could have ever hoped.
